Anti Cold 'n' Flu Tea + other options (immune)

26/06/2022

This is something I've made for years. The recipe is so adaptable you can add & remove ingredients to suit.  It's packed FULL of super nutrients for when you're rundown!  I use a big coffee mug for mine. I've also found it easier & time saving to make a big batch, pour into a sealable jar & heat up a mug when I want it.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chopped or grated FRESH Ginger (about ½ tsp per cup)
  • Cloves (2-3 per cup depending on your taste)
  • Chopped fresh Garlic (1 clove per cup)
  • Honey (1 tsp per cup) a good quality, not overly processed one
  • fresh Lemon (3mm slice per cup, leave the skin on)
  • Cinnamon stick (1 per cup)

METHOD:

Put Ginger/Cloves/Garlic in a mug, pour over boiling water & steep for about 5 minutes. Strain (or not) & add Honey & Lemon slice. Stir everything with the Cinnamon stick.

Alternatively make a bigger batch by boiling your water in a pot then adding the Ginger/Cloves/Garlic & continuing to simmer for about 3 minutes. Strain into a pot then heat up as you want (adding your honey & lemon to suit & stirring each time with a Cinnamon stick).

Freshly chopped Rosemary & Thyme also make great infusions for treating respiratory congestion. Use the same methods as above or even add them to the recipe.

OTHER OPTIONS:

  1. Try a product called MELZEST. This is a Lemon & Honey syrup but is really soothing for sore throats, plus it comes in a pump pot so easy to use! Check out more HERE
  2. Lemon/Honey/Ginger - an old favourite but tried & true. The basis of any good Cold 'n' Flu tea.
  3. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) & Honey. This is a great drink for anytime of year. Not especially indicated in colds etc but really good for its alkalising and soothing properties.
