Thyme was the first herb I ever used medicinally. It’s my favourite “go-to” herb and one that gets used a lot in our home.

From the moment I started to adult, and planted my first garden (at the back of a rented flat in Mt Victoria, Wellington) I’ve grown herbs. I bought books, went to workshops, and started to learn more about the benefits of these magical plants. Today I still have herbs growing all over my garden, and also in my kitchen & clinic rooms.
I love playing with plants, but I don’t get too serious – these things ought to be fun forever.

My clients are probably sick of me banging on about cutting fresh herbs & making a herbal tea (infusion). They often leave with bunches of Thyme, Rosemary (if you’ve been to my clinic, you will have met Rosemary at the front door), Lemon Balm and some instructions on how to make a good infusion.
100% of them are successful, love the tea, and start wanting to grow their own.

I’m now hearing a few BUTS :

  • “I don’t have a garden”
  • “I don’t know where to start”
  • “I’m terrible at growing plants”

Does any of this resonate with you so far?

What if I told you that in fact you CAN grow plants?

What if I show you how to grow them indoors?

Herbs are the SuperPowers of the plant world. Many modern prescription drugs are based on herbal chemicals. We get Essential Oils from herbs. We companion plant them to bring good bugs in and send the bad bugs away.

Take Thyme. Thyme is a commonly grown herb that attracts bees. We need bees for honey and also to pollinate more plants. Thyme also has some superpowers, is edible, and super easy to grow both indoors and out.

The Homegrown Apothecary starts with Thyme. Like I said – it’s my #1 top favourite herb. It’s the one I first started recommending to my friends & co-workers over 20 years ago. It’s the one that will help anyone improve from anything Bronchial (ie respiratory / lungs/ breathing).

Why Apothecary?

I love our ancient wisdom and traditions. Historically an Apothecary would investigate herbal & chemical ingredients, blend them together for the client, then dispense them. You would go to your Apothecary for health advice and a remedy (or cure). These days you go to a pharmacy, and they no longer offer cures!

Your Homegrown Apothecary brings herbs into your home, for you to use in any way you choose. They are fun to grow, easy to look after, and will provide health benefits for your whole family.

Interestingly – tobacco was once considered a medicinal herb!

Did you know that White Willow bark led to the development of Aspirin?

Once you’ve got Thyme sorted, you’ll be wanting more…

Comfrey (Symphytum)

Pineapple Sage (Salvia elegans)

Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis)
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
